measuring cups for baking are for liquid measurement. 4 oz. of footing beef is meant to be weight. I'1000 betting that a 1/two cup of ground beef is way more than 4 oz of beef. Retrieve that a quarter pound hamburger is four oz. of meat.

You would think since a cup is 8oz that 4oz of meat is half that... I googled information technology in one case before and it said 4oz of ground meat is a cup...

Measuring cups are for liquid ounces(oz as in book). You demand 4oz of cooked hamburger (oz as in weight).
1 oz of lean cooked drained hamburger is equal to 1/four cup. So 4oz would exist ane loving cup.

Practise not misfile the 8 fl. ounces to measuring actual weight!! This means 4 ounces of hamburger does Non equal a half a cup! And so many people confuse this and end upward with either mode too much or mode also little. The last time I weighed it out on my food scale, information technology looked to be about a quarter cup, perchance a little more. So in this case people may exist right that it could be close to a 1/2 cup, simply that does not always happen! I suggest trying to find a food calibration. Some of the cheaper ones actually work really really well. I am extremely poor LOL, just the nutrient scale I bought was definitely worth the money, and it was on auction for $eighteen.
If you always get upwards the energy to desire to search it, there are a few manufactures out there near the departure betwixt fl. ounces and "regular" ounces. fl. ounces are simply a measurement of volume, non a measurement of weight.
Hopefully this helps!!

iv oz of meat is a measure of mass. Yous tin can't put it into a cup that measures volume. If you buy the meat at the shop it's usually weighed for y'all and so if you lot bought a pound of beefiness just estimate into quarters if yous don't accept a calibration. Or just quadruple the recipe and take leftovers!

I took a measuring cup (1 cup) and put information technology on a digital calibration, zero it out and pack information technology with cold, cooked, drained ground beef. It weighed iv oz..

Just so you lot know, most measurements of meat and things are raw. So when the serving size on the package says 4 oz., that is raw, uncooked meat... when it cooks downwardly, information technology will look like a lot less.

Bank check the pound/servings on the packaging and eyeball it if you lot won't be ponying upward for a scale anytime presently. There are figures for portions of both raw and cooked meat floating around for a reason. A pound weight is 16 ounces, which means a ane-pound chub is four iv-ounce servings raw. Portioning a single pound into quarters will go the job washed. Larger quantities will be dissever into more, which can make the task more difficult without a scale. Hard, not impossible. I nonetheless don't own 1 and don't feel the need to.
